Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial Traveling Exhibition
My painting "The Bishop" has been gone for over a year! It has been traveling all around China. If only I could have put a hidden camera in it to see all what my painting saw. You see, it was picked to go on a traveling exhibit. I recently heard from Zhou Tianya letting me know that the tour is over and I will soon see my painting again. If only my painting could talk! We could sit and talk about the experience. Zhou sent me the map of all the museums and cities it had been too. See below, it really got around.
What else was special about it was the fact that I showed with the masters of watercolor both here in the USA and abroad.

Rainy Day in Monet's Garden
I wanted to honor my experience of visiting Monet's Garden in Giverny, France last May by creating watercolors of what inspired me. As anyone knows who has been able to visit there, Monet created beds of flowers that complemented each other. They were created with an artist's palette in mind. Closer to the house, and of course this was springtime, the tulips were in bloom along with forget-me-nots. Because it had rained that day and everybody was walking around with umbrellas, I wanted to convey a misty atmosphere. I soften the area around the tulip bed. Monet's house is pink with green railings and shutters. If you are interested in a print, please contact me either through my website: paulafiebich.com or leave me a message on my blog.

Monet's Garden and Studio
I recently had the privilege of going to Monet's Garden and House in Giverny, France. It had rained off an on that day in May.
But it was a wonderful experience. I stood in his studio and could myself there. Here are some of the photos that I took that I would like to share with my watercolor enthusiasts. I believe you will see some of my watercolors inspired by Monet's Gardens!
This is his studio.

Received Shenzhen Biennial Catalog and Certificate
I believe it is necessary to say that I have never been so impressed with the incredible level of watercolor expertise from an exhibit as what is shown in the shows catalog!
I wish I could have attended and will seriously consider attending the next one.
The catalog is fabulous and the certificate that I received is one that I will cherish. My painting was even mentioned in an article that was written by one of the jurors: Hui Shang Ph.D who happens to be Executive Editor-in-chief of "Arts" magazine, China and vice Director of the Commission of Theory of the China Artists Association (CAA).
I would recommend that if you can purchase the catalog for yourself, you will have a chance to expand your vision of what watercolor is all about.

Peony
Have a brand new painting just completed entitled "Peony". It is 19" x 34" done on Arches 260 lb. watercolor paper. I have been interested in doing florals and hope to continue adding to a series. I wanted to show it in a garden with rays of light hitting the pedals and creating shadows and shades of crimson pink surrounded by a seeded eucalyptus also caught in in the backlight of the sun.
Photos from Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial
I wanted to share with you some photos that were sent to me by Maggie Wu, Assistant Curator for the Shenzhen Watercolor Biennial. It appears to be a really impressive and well attended show in China. I can hardly wait to receive the catalog from the show to see all the works of art that were accepted. I am happy to be included in such a prestigious exhibit. Only makes me want to pursue more and continue to keep refining my art and ideas to the next level. Thank you Maggie Wu for taking the time to send these images.
